De-identification
How can Intercilium Inc. guarantee that your privacy is protected when you use PHDtoGo? By having a privacy policy and methodology based on de-identification. No one need ever know who you are because you don't need to tell us. We use the term "de-identification" in place of "anonymous". This is true to both the spirit and word of the Department of Health and Human Services's "Standards for Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information; Proposed Rule". The patent-pending de-identification methodology developed by Intercilium Inc. is the closest thing to true anonymity, because users are never asked questions that can identify them in any way. All you need to register for PHDtoGo's free application is your user code and password. Unlike other online health diary and medical record sites, we never ask for any personally identifiable information, such as your name, address, zip code, e-mail address, phone number, Social Security number, gender or occupation. We don't want to know who your employer is, or which insurance company you use. In fact, we strongly discourage you from putting this information anywhere in your personal health diary. We also advise against entering your physician's name and telephone number, or information about any other healthcare providers you use. Even the photographs on our site are de-identified, with the exception of those that appear in the "About Us" section. De-identification is also your ultimate protection in the extremely unlikely event that there is an external breach in our security system. No one will know who you are, because there's nothing in your PHDtoGo file that has your personal imprint. De-identification.The only privacy methodology that really safeguards
